BPOTY Bird Photographer of the Year – until 30 November 2019


Deadline: 30 November 2019. Bird Photographer of the Year is a global photographic competition; a celebration of avian beauty and diversity, and a tribute to the flexibility and quality of today’s modern digital imaging systems.

Bird Photographer of the Year is an international photography competition and you may enter photographs taken anywhere in the world.

The Young Bird Photographer of the Year Award is only open to photographers under the age of 18 in three age divisions as follows: 0–8 Years, 9–13 years, 14–17 years.

Never before has there been a competition of this scale dedicated purely to the growing interest and passion for photographing one of the most interesting and engaging areas of natural history. The advent of digital technology has revolutionised photography in recent years and some fantastic images, of a quality that wouldn’t have been possible in the days of film, now proliferate on the Internet for millions to see.

Prizes:

Bird Photographer of the Year main prize
The photographer of the winning image chosen by the judging panel will win a cash prize of £5,000 and the title ‘Bird Photographer of the Year’. The winner will also receive a personal portfolio review by the the Chief Commercial Officer and Head of Content at Alamy, have their work and personal interview featured on the Alamy website, social media and blog, plus a special seller’s account with a personal account manager and receive 100% of sales revenue for 2 years.
Best Portfolio Award
The winner of the Best Portfolio chosen by the BPOTY team will receive an Olympus OM-D E M1 MKII camera body and M.Zuiko Digital ED 300mm F/4 IS PRO lens with a combined value of £3,500. The winner will also receive a personal portfolio review by the Chief Commercial Officer and Head of Content at Alamy and a special seller’s account receiving 100% of any sales revenue for 12 months.
Category Gold Award
With the exception of Inspirational Encounters, the photographer of the winning image will in each category will be awarded our Gold Award and receive a pair of Swarovski CL Companion 8×30 binoculars with a retail value of approximately £970. The Gold Award winners will also receive a personal portfolio review by the Chief Commercial Officer and Head of Content at Alamy and a special seller’s account receiving 100% of any sales revenue for 12 months.
Category Silver Award
With the exception of Inspirational Encounters, the Silver Award winner in each category will receive a GITZO GHFG1 Gimbal Head with a retail value of £400.
Category Bronze Award
With the exception of Inspirational Encounters, the Bronze Award winner in each category will receive a Country Innovation Venture Waistcoat with a retail value of £85.
Inspirational Encounters Award
The winner of this special award will receive a £1,500 voucher redeemable against a Wildlife Worldwide holiday of the winner’s choice. There are no Silver or Bronze Awards for this category. As part of the award, Wildlife Worldwide will also be contributing £1,000 towards The Bird Photographer of the Year Conservation Fund.
Conservation Documentary Award
The winner of the Conservation Documentary Award will receive a GT2542 tripod and GHF2W tripod head from Gitzo, together worth over £1,000.
