Nature Unbound ends 29 January 2024

Deadline: 29 January 2024. Judges by award-winning professional photographer, Jason Ingram. The competition is held annually as part of the Shepton Snowdrops Festival. For 2024, the theme is Nature Unbound. Below are a few words from the judge giving his thoughts:

‘How does nature interact with the human world? It surrounds all of us in some shape or form – a majestic landscape, an arid desert, a beautiful garden, a single tree, a flower. Here’s an opportunity to explore the power of nature, how it breaks out of captivity to recapture an abandoned building perhaps, or an abandoned terrain.

‘Sometimes the best shots come when you’re least expecting them. When you start to shoot keep the brief in your mind but don’t allow it to stifle your creativity. Of course, I’ll be looking at how you tackle the subject matter but I’ll also be looking at your composition and use of light. Light is key; when it’s really working for the subject matter I know it will help me to create my best image.

‘Above all, enjoy the process and the rise to the challenge of seeking out a truly special shot.’

A note from the Competition Organisers: Snowdrops are seasonal and don’t grow everywhere; they will always have a special place but we’re equally excited to see a variety of images from across the world on the theme of Nature Unbound.
