The Room Next Door ends 15 December 2026
Deadline: 15 December 2026. The Room Next Door is a Decagon Gallery open call juried by Dr. Susan Bright, curator, art historian, writer and lecturer (Australia/UK) who specializes in lens-based art.
We are looking for photographs that bring viewers to the edge of a space they can’t fully enter. Mystery should come from what the image withholds. Thresholds, windows, reflections, glimpses of neighboring lives, and staged work are all welcome. People may appear, but the subject is the space between here and there.
Selected photographers receive an online exhibition (January 10 to March 10, 2027), publication in a professionally designed exhibition catalog, and digital badges and certificates.
Prizes:
First Place: $500
Second Place: $250
Third Place: $150
Two Honorable Mentions: $50 each
Human Presence Award: free entry to a future exhibition of the winner’s choice
Cash awards are limited to one per photographer. If multiple submissions win, the photographer receives only the award of greatest value.
