Current World Archaeology Photo of the Year ends 26 January 2026

Deadline: 26 January 2026. Send us your best archaeological photos from any location around the world for your chance to win first prize in Current World Archaeology magazine’s annual photo competition.

As summer comes to an end, it is the perfect time to reflect on any heritage-filled travels, archaeological projects, or visits to historical sites around the world. Dig out your best photos on an archaeological theme – these can be pictures that you have taken recently, or at any point in the past – and send them to us for your chance to win first prize in our annual CWA Photo Competition and have your work showcased in the magazine.

Entrants can submit up to high-resolution 5 images with an archaeological theme – please include details of the site or artefact photographed, when each image was taken, and your contact information, including a postal address.

Prizes:

The winning image and three runners-up will be featured in CWA and at the CA Live! conference in London in 2026. The overall winner will get two free tickets to the conference, and will also receive a Current World Archaeology trophy.

The judges’ decision is final. Prize-winners (only) will be notified of results by 9 February 2026.
