Glimmerglass Film Days Poster Image Competition – until 9 April 2019

Deadline: 9 April 2019. In preparation for the seventh annual Glimmerglass Film Days November 7-11 in Cooperstown, NY, Otsego 2000 is holding a Film Days Poster Image Contest. The photograph that best conveys the 2019 theme “Adaptations” will be featured in Film Days materials, including the poster, program, and website. The winning photographer will receive a cash prize of $250, and special recognition in the Film Days program.

Glimmerglass Film Days, a five-day festival of film, talks, presentations, art exhibitions, parties, and walks, showcases exceptional independent filmmaking that explores humanity’s complex relationship with the natural world. Each year, the Film Days Steering Committee, led by curator Margaret Parsons, selects a theme. Previous themes include: It’s About the Water (2014), Sacred Places (2015), Against the Odds (2016), Home (2017), and Passages (2018).

For 2019, the selected films will show how nature, society, and individuals react and adapt in the face of change. What is the path forward? Given the swift pace of change, what “Adaptations” are necessary?

The competition is open to professional and fine arts photographers. Submissions are limited to three (3) per photographer. An image taken in or near Otsego County, New York, is preferred, but not required. All photographs must be approximately 8×10 and 300 dpi for jurying purposes, and must be submitted electronically (.jpg, .png, .pdf) by midnight, April 9, 2019. Entry form and submission information available at glimmerglassfilmdays.org.

“Given the great response we had to the first Poster Image Contest, we are eager to see the entries for this year,” says Ellen Pope, the executive director of Otsego 2000. Glimmerglass Film Days is a program of Otsego 2000, an environmental and preservation advocacy nonprofit based in Cooperstown, NY.

A high-resolution digital file will be required if the photograph is selected. Photographers will retain all rights to any photograph submitted but will grant Otsego 2000 the royalty-free, non-exclusive right to use the photograph in its 2019 Film Days poster, communications, and public relations materials, including display on Otsego 2000’s website, Glimmerglass Film Days’ website, and social media platforms; and allow the photograph to be used in news stories and publications promoting the festival. Otsego 2000 will credit the photographer on all materials where the photograph appears.
