Light & Shadow ends 10 January 2027

Deadline: 10 January 2027. Light & Shadow 2027 is an international juried competition and online exhibition organised by Curatone.art, an independent curatorial platform based in Berlin. The call is dedicated to the relationship between light and shadow: how light reveals or conceals a subject, shapes its meaning and gives it weight. Photographers are especially invited to take part, whether they work with natural light, studio lighting, night scenes, silhouettes, long exposures or high-contrast black and white. The competition is open to other media as well, so photographic works are judged alongside painting, drawing, textile, mixed media and digital art, which gives photographers a chance to be seen in a broader contemporary art context.

Participation is open to artists and photographers aged 18 and over from any country. One work can be entered for free, and up to two more works can be added for a one-time fee of $10. Entries are evaluated by a jury of credentialed art professionals, and every work is scored independently on a 10-point scale. Results are announced on January 25, 2027. Participants whose works pass preliminary selection pay a $25 exhibition fee that covers publication of all their accepted works.

Prizes:

– First prize: $150 cash, a solo online exhibition on Curatone.art, an Artist Interview and a certificate.
– Second prize: $50 cash, an Artist Interview and a certificate.
– Third prize: $50 cash, an Artist Interview and a certificate.
