Musec Unpublished Photo ends 15 April 2024

Deadline: 15 April 2024. Entries for the 2024 edition of the international UNPUBLISHED PHOTO contest have just opened. Young photographers born between 1994 and 2006 have the chance from February 12th until April 15th to submit their portfolios.

UP is now in its fifth edition, the competition continues to attract a growing number of young artists from all over the world every year. The initiative was first launched by the Milanese gallery 29 ARTS IN PROGRESS, and then taken forward by MUSEC in lugano, in 2020 with the aim of strengthening cross-border collaborations and showing continual support of young artists’ work.

As in the previous editions, a competent jury composed of leading figures from the world of culture and photography will as in previous years, select four finalist photographers from the participants.

The exhibition that will be staged of the winners works at MUSEC in Lugano, which will be held from 31st October 2024 to 2nd March 2025, will be an opportunity to attract collectors and photography enthusiasts and to allow the public the chance to discover the new trends and expressive languages of the international contemporary scene. A series of collateral events dedicated to photography enthusiasts will be organised to complement the exhibition.

At the end of the exhibition in Lugano, the works exhibited will become part of the MUSEC collections, thus enriching a photographic heritage that today counts over 40.000 works from the mid-19th century to the present day.

The UP24 competition will award the first runner-up a monetary prize of CHF 3’500; while second to fourth place receive CHF 500 each. The four winners will be also awarded the publication of a catalogue published by the FCM containing all the photographs submitted to the competition, and an exhibition in Lugano, in the MUSEC venue. The costs of these valorisation activities amount to CHF 50’000 and are fully covered by the FCM.
