World Sight Day until 15 October 2020

Deadline: 15 October 2020. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. This competition can be a great opportunity to highlight eye health successes and also document unmet need. The International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) is an alliance of civil society organisations, corporates and professional bodies promoting eye health through advocacy, knowledge and partnerships. Together, we can work towards building support for blindness prevention and to ensure universal eye health. We run the photo competition to mark World Sight Day, an annual day of awareness to mark avoidable blindness and vision impairment.

We know that over a billion people have a vision impairment that could have been treated or addressed. Prevalence of vision impairment in many low- and middle-income regions is estimated to be four times higher than in high-income regions.

2020 has been a year of extraordinary changes because of the COVID-19 pandemic raging across the world. Most countries have prioritized COVID-19 control and every aspect of the country’s health system has a role to play.
